The Balloochies go to Europe

Day 3 - Roma Up early for another morning exploring run. No stairs torture for Rob today just nice undulating cobblestones. Who would have thought they'd work your calves so much. There is definitely something to be said for getting out early. It gives you a totally different perspective on a city first thing in the morning when the light is soft and there are few people around...apart from the odd young person stumbling home from a night out. After our run and a relaxing brekky and a quick coffee at our favourite local place, we headed for the Trevi Fountain and the Spanish steps. On our way we could hear orchestra music and followed the sound until we discovered a full orchestra and choir rehearsing inside a church. Even in rehearsal the sound was magic. It was still earlish on a Sunday morning by the time we got to the Trevi Fountain so not too crowded. We threw our coins and spent some time absorbing the atmosphere. Then off to the Spanish Steps. Again we spent some time people watching and absorbing the atmosphere. A spot of shopping on the way back to our apartment and I was in shopping heaven. Rob displayed a level of patience I didnt think was possible while I went into change room after change room. All of this in 33 degree heat mind you! I think I've used up my shopping credit for a bit though. We chilled out for the afternoon, watched a bit of the tour them headed to Piazza Navona for a drink and some more people watching. Dinner at our favourite pizza place which Rob reckons is the best pizza he has ever eaten. Gelatti on the way home and an early night. Favourite gelatti flavours so far: Lisa: Bacio Rob: Limone
