Leaving Toronto

Saturday 16th June, 2012
Yesterday was another very warm day probably around 24 degrees. With instructions in hand at 11 am, we set off for the bus stop, supposedly to get to the Toronto Zoo. Failure, the last bus from this stop was at 10.30am so we walked to the shopping centre to find a taxi – not, we should have walked back to the hotel, to get one, but instead we went shopping for the afternoon in a massive complex like Okara Park, in Whangarei. One of the shops was a massive book shop, we are watching our bag weights so sadly we couldn’t buy too many. We arrived back at the hotel at 5.30 with our tea under our arm from the self-help bar at the supermarket, so ate healthily again tonight. We showered early and climbed into bed at 7.30 pm with the intention of waking around 10.00 pm to watch Nik Wallenda walk across the Niagara Falls on a tightrope. No alarm necessary, woke right on queue and watched the event from start to finish. He made it with seemingly no problems, talked to the TV interviewers all the way across. Not our idea of entertainment. We had talked to Paul on Skype this morning, his nose surgery seems to have gone to plan, next will be his elbow. Both the girls were on skype today and all seems to be running smoothly. Owen was at rugby, so we weren’t able to see him, saw Carlo and didn’t ask where Jarvis was.

We vacate the hotel at 10.00 am today, jump in a taxi to Toronto City, leave our bags at the Railway Station for the day and then decide what to do till around 8.30 pm when we have to be ready to board the train for two nights to get us to Winnipeg.
