12th Aug 2012 - Nepal
Pulwari to Lumbini

The strike is over. We set off for Lumbini at 7 am with our driver Krishna. You should know that there is no posted speed limit here and goats, dogs, cows and water buffalo have the right of way. We passed two overturned trucks on the way. We stopped for breakfast at the top of the valley - stunning view! Then proceeded on through 14 k of sharp bends, the warning sign at the entrance warned of the turns and suggested "dead slow." Enroute we also passed Open Defecation Free signs-not exactly sure what that meant. Waiting for our guide and bicycles to start our tour of the dozens of temples and stupas spread over miles. Currently HOT and HUMID! More later
