Homeward bound...

The last blog from us, Were currently in our hotel writing this in Ikebukuro Tokyo before we pack for the last time...that's at least something we both won't miss!

Over the last few days we've been to Kyoto which is the culture capital of Japan and the second most visited city in the world after Mecca apparently. We visited a temple on the first day and then it poured it down. We went onto a shopping centre just to get some shelter. It comes out of nowhere, one minute its boiling, then its raining.

We had a full free day so explored a zen temple and garden which was nice and peaceful, the maple trees are just starting to turn red so it would look even better in October. We did some more shopping and ate at MOS burger - the japanese speciality chain and it rivals Mcds.

That night, we paid a lot of money for the whole group to spend an hour with a geisha. They are described as entertainers, and it was a great experience meeting the geisha who played a tune on a 3 stringed guitar made from dog skin and did a dance (not at the same time). Our guide though was different to Tyler, our main guide, and he was absolutely hammered. He owns a tea room where the geisha comes (hes married to an ex geisha himself) and its only by invitation, i.e. anyone can't walk off the street and 'book' one. At one point, he was answering a question and bent knees, moved positions and farted. Myself, Nat and Richard just fell apart laughing. For ages. and he pretended not to notice!! It was ok but not worth what we paid and we're still a bit unsure about what geishas actually do...

We then visited Yokohama, but didn't see the city as we went to the sumo tournament in Tokyo and that was awesome. We saw loads of wrestlers on the tube also, and we just all had a wicked time. Some great pics as well. Obviously, I won my first bout but got knocked out in the second round.

We had another night of Kareoke following that which was good and then the tour ended so the last 2 days we've been on our own. Yesterday we went to Harajuku to see the infamous Harajuku girls who dress up on weekends and spent time in a park having a picnic with a bento or lunch box. We had a nice meal last night and today we've been to Tokyo disneyland, but it was absolutely heaving. We spent 3 hours queuing from Indiana Jones and the Crystal skull, and it was crap!!!!! We saw a disney performance then left because all the rides queues were 3 hour waits. The japanese don't care though, they love it while me and nat were getting pissed off!!

So we've had a cheap burger for tea and that's that. We're obviously gutted that we're coming home as we have had the time of our lives. Its been the best thing we've ever done and something we'll always remember and look back fondly on, Well, apart from a few things like the wet bed and my most minging japanese meal on that first day!

Hope you have all enjoyed reading this and we're looking forward to seeing you all soon in person.

Sayonara!
