Towards the Axis of Evil
So here I am. Having just graduated, I have found myself living in the Siwa Oasis, Egypt. I am here for around 7 months, teaching with an English family. Finishing in April I will travel Egypt, a life-long dream before heading to some countries that have always fascinated me, though not everyone's cup of tea. Through Jordan visiting the amazing Petra, concrete Amman and Roman Jersash with a trip to the Dead Sea. Fom there is off to Syria; to Damascus and its age old legacy, Palmyra where Zenobia tried to throw off the Roman Empire, Aleppo and its massive citadel, Krak des Chevaliers and its crusader castle as well as the lovely coastal town of Lattakia. From Syria I have a brief stop in Turkey, to climb Mt. Nemrut Dagi and visit Kurdistan before catching the train to Tehran. Finally I will get to visit Persia! All my studies have come to this moment. Geeeek. To Tehran and visit this city that the West loves to hate, Shiraz and its beautiful gardens, Istafan- "The Paris of the Orient" and Persepolis- City of Xerxes and Darius. The Axis of Evil ends there. Back to Istanbul where I will teach for a couple of weeks before returning to Europe. Accompanied by a few friends on the way.
