Tuesday 20th March 2012… Well I haven’t wrote a diary entry for ages as I been a busy bee so I am very sorry especially to my mummy who keeps moaning at me hehehe!!! Well I started work at the Montessori nursery last Monday it’s called Kinder world and it is VERY different from England that is for sure. When I started last week I wasn’t overly keen but as the week went on and to today I am starting to enjoy it more. But even still I am glad I am getting the experience. Last week when I started my first day I walked in and I think they had the impression that I was going there to teach and take over but I had the impression that I was just going to follow their routine and just kind of fit in but anyway I said that I would do a craft activity with the children and I said I would do so monoprinting and when I said that would been putting paint on the table they gave me a funny look as to say that’s not allowed so I had to quickly change my idea and we did some butterfly paintings. I am only working in Pre 1 and Pre 2 which the ages is from 3-5 years in Pre 1 and 5-6 in Pre 2. Their day is very strange they try to follow the Montessori method but it’s not exactly right. When the children come in they have to copy the homework off the board into their books and then that’s kind of it there isn’t any toys apart from one basket in the corner which consists of a few different building blocks. They don’t have all different activities set out on different tables like we do back in England. Their day is only from 10:00-1:30 though. I have to walk to catch the school bus in the morning, well some mornings sometimes Abhishake gives me a lift but if I walk it takes me 20 minutes. Then the bus goes around and picks the children up from their houses and then we get to nursery at about 9:30-9:45 then they have morning snack. One day last week they had assembly in the morning where the whole nursery goes out in lines and sings nursery rhymes and sometimes they have big circle time which is the same. Then they go to their classrooms and do their work they do so much written work even for such young ages. The children can read though even at 3 really well. Then they go for lunch different times for different rooms but it’s not all line up together and go down together the teacher just says right lunchtime and they wonder down. Then after lunch they back to their classrooms and if they haven’t finished then they carry on with their work if they have they do reading or playing with the basket of bricks or go outside to play then they have another snack before they get on the buses that leave at about 1:45. I get dropped off on the bus as well so then I have to walk home which takes about 20-30 minutes as its uphill hahaha!!!!! At the moment they are very busy practicing for their graduation which is on Sunday so they are all practicing dances and singing and Pre 2 have to do the talking it is so cute. The nursery has different classes they are called nursery, foundation, Pre 1 and Pre 2 altogether there is 8 classes. I have been doing different craft activities with the children and teaching them nursery rhymes and circle games the teachers are really keen to learn them so they can continue to do them with the children. Today I taught them how to play ‘Sally sharp eyes’ they loved that. Yesterday I went with Pre 1 to the other nursery as there are 3 of them and it was huge. This nursery was a school as well though and went up to class 6, they went to practice on the stage as this is where the graduation is going to be held on Sunday. So that’s what is happening at the nursery. At home at the House of Hope I have still been helping the children with their homework and we have been playing lots of games and we just sit doing lots of talking and they love plaiting and braiding my hair hahaha!!! I have just built such strong relationships with them I just love it when they come home from school and seeing them all the feeling still overwhelms me. It’s just like I have loads of younger sisters and I love them all I honestly don’t know how I am going to be able to leave!!!! Xxx
