Breaking the Routine
1st Dec 2011 - The Long way home...
Day 73

This morning was yet another early start. 4am today due to the severe itching in Di’s foot from the sand worms she looks to have got. What a great start to Di’s 28th Birthday!! These worms seem to be much worse at this time of the day, horrible to think that’s when they are moving about! She had to sleep with bandages wrapped around her feet soaked in vinegar in the hope the vinegar kills off the worms. From the itching at 4am it doesn’t look like it has just worked yet.

We managed to get ourselves up and about and seeing as breakfast was at 5.15am we weren’t up too early. Burns soaked the bandages in more vinegar before breakfast to hopefully kill these things once and for all.

Today we drove from Chipata to the capital of Zambia Lusaka. Just a mere 700km drive which took us around 11 hours. Other than reporting we stopped off in Lusaka before the camp at a mall which was very western for some internet nothing much happened other than the drive. This is our last day on the overland adventure today and I think we are both glad to one get off the truck and two get some decent accommodation!
