The great Ocean road - Cape Otway
We have travelled further along this great ocean road now to Cape Otway, famous for their lighthouse, the light there has been in continuous operation since 1848 and this provided thousands of immigrants with their first sight of land as they arrived from Europe..We took a walk along the coastal path to reach it and climbed the many steep steps to the top.We had a guide who informed us of all the history belonging to the lighthouse and how it has saved many lives over the years. We then toured around and found the original Aboriginal homeland of the former dwellers here in Australia, looking into their manmade homes, and inspecting all the aboriginal tools which were used for cooking and hunting, and the many colourful artifacts which they used to paint and draw, including the handmade wooden digeredoo's and the famous boomerangs.While looking around this site, we spotted the wallabies hopping so near to us, these animals look so much prettier than their mates the kangaroo.
