The Weatherstones Hit The Road
11th May 2012 - 18th May 2012
Day 73 - 80

Left Katherine and headed north.  Next scheduled stop was Douglas Daly Crossing area.  Found a nice caravan paark in the middle of nowhere and bunkered down for a couple of days.  Another swimming pool and more swimming and diving practice.  Went out to the Douglas Crossing but it was closed due to the wet season.  The boys had a bit of a fish, but as always, somebody caught a barra yesterday.  Yeah, we have heard that one before.

Celebrated Mothers Day with a nice bacon and egg breakfast and a baked mel for dinner.

Off again on Monday morning.  We were scheduled to go to Daly River for three nights but learnt that this week there was the annual barra fishing competition and all accommodation was booked out.  The paper said there were at least 50 boats entered in the competition.  That took care of our barra fishing.  Not much point in going out there.

Had to go to plan B and instead headed for Litchfield NP.  Made our way out to Wangi Falls with the vans to find campsite.  What a disappointment!  The camp sites were pretty crappy, the falls were closed for swimming due to the late wet season and worst of all the kiosk had been pulled down and they were building another one.  I was so looking forward to that mocha and scones.  Darn!

Decided to move on the next day and visited all the other sites on the way.  We headed towards Darwin and decided to go to Berry Springs to fill in some days as we were not due to be in Darwin until the 21st.  Found a really nice park called Tumbling Waters CP.  It is lovely and green and you guessed it, even has a pool.  So, more swimming.

We went to the Berry Springs Nature Park this afternoon and enjoyed even more swimming under the ewater falls and pools.

Heading into Darwin tomorrow.  Managed to book in a couple of days early so will have plenty of time to do some chores such as visits to doctors, car servicing, markets, shopping and more shopping and seeing the local attractions.

Until then...................
