Huacachina: Hoy, jugué en la piscina, en la arena y con 2 jugadores guapos

My Blackberry came to life at 8AM and brought me along with it. Wow! 12 hours of sleep! I feel like a champ! If I hadn’t set the alarm, would I have slept longer? Looking outside, the weather was foggy. I was ecstatic that my head was no longer foggy! It cannot believe how retarded and cranky I get when I am sick.

I felt so good, I wanted to dance. I wanted to run. However, I wanted a 2nd opinion. The thermometer indicated I was back to normal. OK, first breakfast. Chill in the morning. If all is well then I would do yoga in the afternoon to ensure I had bounced back.

Although I wanted the morning to be as sunny as my disposition, in a way I was happy that the Peruvian weather in Paracas and here was mimicking the SF mornings in July. However, I was a wee annoyed that at noon it was still freaking foggy! Hello, per my schedule, it was time for me to sit poolside and get my Vitamin D fix. I still went down to the pool and the sun joined me 30 minutes later.

The agenda for the afternoon: read, dip, flip and repeat. I found a Cosmo en Español. Sweet! It felt like less of a guilty pleasure, reading complete trash, since I was enhancing my Spanish vocabulary. Thus, keeping an equal balance.

After playing at the pool, I continued working on my mind and body balance as promised by practicing some sun salutations before I went to bid it goodbye for the day. SInce I was still feeling energized, I was allowed to go play in the big sand box surrounding Huacachina. The last time I was here I went on an epic dune buggy and sand-boarding sunset excursion (see 4/30). Today, I was gonna be a wee more eco-friendly and use my own energy to power me up to the top of the dunes for sunset.

As I have been traveling, I have received lustful looks at my butt, my blonde hair, my MacAir and my Kindle. Today, my Vibrams were being coveted as I quickly and deftly conquered climbing up the sandy dunes. Other people wearing boots or sneakers had to pause shortly into the climb to remove their shoes to get a grip. Even with my Vibrams on, I cannot claim it was an easy feat, but it was a blast making the effort worth it. I loved feeling like a carefree kid as I passed a little girl with a gleeful grin mimicking mine.

At the top, there was already a large groups clustered together to watch the sunset. All the loud voices were not conducive for a tranquil sunset so I kept on moving along the top of the dunes. Once I found a solitary spot, I sat and sunk down into the sand. There was salsa music and sand blowing over the top of the dunes. Once the sun sank below the dunes, it was time for me to do the same. Hmmm, how should I go down? I could go down in a zig zag fashion like everyone else or I could just blaze my own trail down. Feeling like a crazy bitch, I barreled straight down. Wahoo!! Record speed. I continued running a victory lap around the bowl until I got to the other side and my hotel. SAH-WEET!!

The 2 nights before, I had a room with 2 beds. This morning, they had me move to a room with one. It was larger and had a bonus feature: a tub. Not just an ordinary tub but a jacuzzi tub. With sand in every nook and cranny, this would come in handy. I was feeling spoiled 2 luxurious baths within a week. As I bathed I sang my version to Elton John’s “Benny and the Jets”. “Ke-ke-ke-keren and the jets!!”
After my bath, I continued to be a happy and healthy chica. To celebrate, I was taking myself out to dinner. Since I had a hot date with myself and Mac, I made the effort to put on earrings, mascara and lip gloss along with my linen dress. Little did I know I could cause such a stir at the restaurant.

My waiter Javier started dancing my way to the music. His style was like a combination of Patrick Swayze’s Dirty Dancing and an epileptic. He was a jovial fellow. His overeager exuberance made me think I had stumbled into a TGIFridays. He took my order and my name. When he pronounced my name he RRolled the RR in KeRRena.

As Javier danced off to check on his other tables. Two sexy men, slid into the seats and table next to me. Javier soon returned to take their orders and stepped around them to share with me the clave to the WiFi. He had it written on his left hand. To make sure I could read it clearly, he put his arm around me. I had to hand it to the guy, that was smooth. However, I felt like it was his way of peeing on me in front of the other two gentleman.

Of course the two were undeterred. They introduced themselves to me: Davey from England and Rold from the Netherlands. Immediately, I loved them. First, of course they were attractive, um SMOKING HOT! Second, they were freaking hilarious. No alcohol was needed to have fun with them but we still celebrated with a round of drinks.

Today, I had played in the pool and in a big sand box. Now, I was playing a new game with 2 players. It was completely obvious they were competing to see who would be the one to score big with me tonight. Hmmm, game on! This was going to be fun. Little did this guys know, I play to win. We had a blast at dinner and then went to meet a friend at their hostal whom they called the French Witch. I thought maybe because she was so attractive she casts spells on the men.

At the other hostal, the men led me to the large back patio with BBQ and pool where I was introduced to the witch. OMG, meeting her took my breath away. She was NOT attractive. It took me by surprise that she DID look like a witch. Her hair was brunette short and curly underneath a large brimmed hat. She had a mole on her nose. To top it off, she showed me her leather boots that had been shined today. The guys totally laughed at me since apparently my surprise and amusement was written all over my face.

Me and the witch got along. She had an entourage of five Peruvian men who kept passing around shots of pisco puro for the group to savour as they grilled their meat. My two men stuck with me and I was passed back and forth on their laps continuing as they both tried to out charm each other.

It was getting late. The witch nor the two men cast any spells on me that I couldn’t break. It was the pisco that was a problem. If I was going to move on to Lima, I needed to head back sooner rather than later. The 2 men both offered to accompany me on the short walk back to my hotel. Did they think they were both going to score? It the front steps, I gave Rold a kiss and then Davey. They both had a momentary look of encouragement. Then, I slowly backed up the steps waving them goodbye. “Sorry guys, Mac is the only one coming up with me tonight.” They both smirked and laughed with me. It was fun playing but: Game over! I win! Players, play on!
