Bay Riders
10th Jul 2012
Glad we changed our route ! To Newport.

RV parks great for getting local and wider knowledge, often meeting other guys or couples on riding tour.
So planned in GPS today a route to Tillamook but on heading out of town decided to turn left and go thru McKenzie Highway - real glad we did! Wow, wow wow for first part with great views of lots of volcanic peaks, then thru huge area(100's of has) of lava flow from local peaks, all banked up along route at one stage - amazing! Hot 35, then one out on west coast again dropped to 15, really notice that in our gear and at back of my head! Coast very rugged and windy. Getting soft as we decided to stay in motel instead of putting tent up! So we at Newport for night - a huge bridge over the port harbor where boats have to navigate out a very narrow passage against the wind!
Heading into dairy area tomorrow and plan to visit the Tillimook chessmen factory and enjoy their famous icream - hope its better than the McDonalds snow freeze!
Stuart's eye is fine now.
Love to all S&B
