Mataranka We arrived in Mataranka and booked into the Territory Manner that Paul and Wendy had recommended, cost $30 a night. Each 6 vans have their own shower toilet block 2 ladies & 2 men's to share and then they have the large general block all reasonably clean. They have a licensed outdoor cafe/ restaurant which serve very good meals, as it was our wedding anniversary on the 9th July we went out for dinner the first time in a while that both of us have even remembered our wedding anniversary. We went for a drive out to the Homestead and hot springs for a look you can't take your dog in but they have a dog parking area with water and shade. The springs are looked very nice but we did not go for a swim, Doug brought another souvenir for the decking he has decided to do it up with memorabilia item, that should be easy his shed is full of them. Went for a drive around the area checking out what there was (see photo's) this is the area the book We of the Never Never was written and filmed, so interesting information about it spread around the area and if your into hot springs your in the right place. We were talking to one of the girls camped near us who was working there for the season and she said she would kill for a hairdresser, that they had to travel to Katherine for haircuts and the 5 hairdressers at Katherine were booked out for 3 weeks. So I mentioned that friends of our travelling down behind us that she was a mobile hair dresser she said tell them to come here and I will line them up, so I rang Paul & Wendy to let them know, they will contact the park and arrange a visit. This is how Paul and Wendy travel working as they go staying when there is enough work, moving on when there is not. We are now on our slow trip home so, we both would rather keep going west but oh well maybe next time.
