Day 4

Sunday 6th December 2015

11.30pm

Position 22°27'S, 07°04'E

Well I'm on watch again surprise surprise.

It's been a kinda boring day. We started with overcast skies most of the morning, and the sun finally poked it's head through around midday, although it has been rather cold most of the day.

I saw my first ship in days today, it was not such a large cargo ship but at least it was something different to look at, I can't remember it's name but it was flagged The Marshall Islands and was heading for Durban, it passed about 3nm from us.

The Captain said that he saw one on the radar last night but he never got to see that one at all, it was just too far away.

Talking about AIS systems, well ours has been working great, well kinda, but late this afternoon Open CPN, the program we run it through on the computer, stopped working and somehow lost all its maps, after one hell of a lot of pirate language, I finally have it up running again, thank god.

And our oil leak from the steering thingy, has stopped as well, we have had this pulled apart several times and with torches looking from top to bottom and the only thing we can think of is that it must of been an overflow when The Captain topped it up the last time, as it seems to be very happy now.

And the ocean well it's been rocking and rolling tonight, for some reason the sea and wind picks up every night while I'm on watch, and I spend most of my watch jumping up and down adjusting our position, it drives me crazy, I'm sure it's does it on purpose.

Well tomorrow is another day.
