San Francisco and Chinese New Year

Back in San Francisco and the focus has been on work, and trying to orient myself in this lovely city. I remain homeless and seem to be moving from hotel to hotel, so I am looking forward to my corporate apartment being ready, which will be 16th March.Â In the meantime, weekends are simply spent investigating different areas of the city.Â Chinese New Year was a fun thing - I decided to go to the Parade and found myself a wonderful spot near Union Square to observe the proceedings.Â It was pretty crowded, but not as bad as I had imagined as peopel were able to spread out along the route.Â There were police very 100 yards or so along the way, so I felt quite safe.Â By the time it was over, I had made some new friends in the people around me and I was very sick of tigers!!!Â Every float was decorated in some way in the yellow and gold of the Year of the Tiger.Â Check out my photos - I am sorry that I could not catch the noise and smell of the firecrackers that they threw down in front of the dragons.Â And the photos do not do justice to the fabulous dragon dances - there was even a cute little dragon made up of children about 5 or so, which wove its way through - that was the cutest thing ever as it was almost a little caterpillar, not a fiery dragon.
