Hayley and Ben's adventures!
23rd Nov 2011 - Off to Asia
Strange things that we love in Korea...

So here are some random things that we have enjoyed discovering in Korea so far...

-Neon lights - everywhere is lit up like a christmas tree - we love it!

-Angry birds! They have a fantastic obsession with Angry birds they are EVERYWHERE!

-Socks - cute socks are everywhere and they have small feet so I can fit in to them perfectly!

-BBQs - we are eating so many bbq meals they are cheap, healthy and very tasty!

-Garlic-likewise with the garlic we are eating so much of it and it is acceptable to permenantly stink of garlic here so its great!!

-Bangs - "rooms" there is a 'bang' for everything, so far we have been to singing rooms, dvd rooms, screen golf rooms and we found a multi room - where there is wii and x-box - great!!

-Noraebang -  we are loving the kareoke rooms it is fantastic! There are lots of English songs available too thankfully!

-Food markets - along every street there are old men and women selling fresh fruit and vegetables its so cheap and you can buy all sorts of fresh produce - great!

-Outside gyms - every park and mountain area has many free gym and weight equipment its a great idea we should do it in the UK then we would help reduce the overweight problems we have!

-English signs - all the signs have english writing underneath so it makes it very easy to get around!

-The lack of health and safety! In the UK we would never see men swinging off a massive skyscraper cleaning the windows on a rope swing with no safety rope or helmet! Or plug sockets in the elements outside with just a plastic bottle covering them!!

-No gangs of kids anywhere - all the kids are too busy studying or playing PC games so the streets are peaceful!

-Phone shops - they are everywhere! As promotions they advertise free washing powder, soap and shopping trolleys as freebies! We even saw one phone shop giving away huge packs of toilet paper as an incentive - how random!

-rock-paper-scissors- i will never understand the thing with this game it is used by everyone, adults and kids to decide anything its so random!

-Wacky-waving-inflatable-arm balloon men!! Has anyone seen that family guy episode you will know what I am talking about!!

-Scantily dressed women dancing on a podium with loud music outside phone shops and make-up shops to advertise a new product! Only in Korea....

-Dancing dressed up robot cows wriggling around outside butcher shops again to loud music!!

-Huge blown up inflatable 'erection signs' (as Ben calls them) to advertise any new restaurant!

-MASKS! I forgot this one -  everyone wears masks it was quite unnerving at first! I still haven't quite worked it out, I think its for health reasons when they are sick and also for the pollution levels in the air too.

-Bad ass Korean boys driving around on their pink motorbikes with multicoloured lights underneath them!

-Squatting! While they wait for the lights to change everyone just randomly squats at the side of the road!

-Fashion - they all wear the same stuff here not too many alternative looking people which is amusing but depressing too!

-Couple outfits! This is so funny! Dating couples often wear EXACTLY the same outfits and this is normal here and encouraged its hilarious we think they look ridiculous but its so funny! I can never imagine that taking off in the UK!!!

-Visors- all the old Korean women wear these enormous visors, some are glittery and colourful and they are huge they cover their whole face! So funny! Some of these women look like Darth Vader or that Daft Punk song with a huge visor covering their whole face and a mask on their nose and mouth!!

Right I think that gives you a good impression of some of the funny things that occur here! I will do a part 2 to this list before we leave! Hope it has made you laugh, it still makes us chuckle as we walk down the street every day!!
