Hayley and Ben's adventures!
30th Jul 2012 - 1st Aug 2012 - A South Korean Summer...
Summer camp!

Semester 1 is over and most schools run a short English camp for selected students that the native teachers get to plan and organise! I loved winter camp it was great to have something that was all my own work and see how much the kids enjoyed it so I was looking forward to summer camp!

Ben's school had cancelled his camp due to renovation work on the floors which he was quite pleased about! We arrived back from Jisan Rock festival at 5am so after a long shower and a short hour sleep I had to be in school for 8.30am! Slightly regretting the choice to go to a rock festival and start summer camp with no sleep and severe sunburn - the kids thought my red face was hilarious!

I had planned 3 days of English fun! Morning classes were the younger kids aged 8-10 and the afternoon was the older ones aged 11-13. Day 1 I had the theme of 'monsters', day 2 was 'Angry Birds' and day 3 'Arts and crafts and review quizes' so it was really fun and everyone enjoyed themselves! I got the kids to design a new Angry bird character and background which they went nuts for, Angry birds is HUGE here so day 2 was very popular! We also made angry bird ballons and sandwiches!

So although hard work in the heat and with sunburn we had a really fun 3 days. I had to work with Junghee who although very sweet is a classic example of an over-organised, photo obsessed (I thought I was bad but she took a grand total of 1429 photos in 3 days), panic-stricken at the slightest problem Korean coteacher! I was close to throttling her on day 1 when the lack of sleep made me very irritable but we got through it without me resorting to any violence!

This was the last time I will be teaching the kids here and I felt a few pangs of sadness saying goodbye to them, the kids on camp are the best behaved and sweetest ones so I will miss some of them! After camp I will have 2 days to relax at my desk putting the finishing touches to our Japan trip which we are really looking forward to!
