With a decent night sleep under our belts we managed to get up reasonable easily for 5.30am. We hit the road on what was a decent drive to South Luangwa national park. We needed to cross the border into Zambia today too. Once over the border we stopped at Chipata for some snacks and drinks. Then it was another 4 hours to cover just over 100km. The reason for the slow pace was the horrendous roads.

To Burns annoyance the piriton was not working one bit. The itching was still incredible and the tracking was getting worse. We are convinced there is something in her feet! We eventually arrived at the wildlife lodge about 3pm and immediately grabbed some lunch. We were then taken to our tent before heading on a night game drive. The tent seemed ok at first. Day time there are no bugs so it’s not bad. The tent we had was kind of like Nairobi with an en-suite but no double bed.

At 4pm we headed out in a 4x4 for a game drive which would be half day time half night time. It was again a great experience. We saw elephants and a lion came within 10 yards of the 4x4. A huge storm then passed overhead sparking off the most amazing lightening I had ever seen. After the rain stopped we all were given a cider to have during sunset. After sunset we began the night drive. We managed to catch a glimpse of a leopard but not much else other than rabbits haha!

We arrived back at camp for a bug invested dinner. Beforehand we nipped back to the tent as my contact was annoying me to find the tent invested with bugs! We had no mozzy nets either so there was no way we were staying in this tent. After the bug infested dinner we managed an upgrade to a chalet which was much more sealed off. After killing the biggest spider I had ever seen it was time to get some much needed sleep seeing as we had be up since 5am.
