Euro tandem 2012

(Jour 43) Barcus André and Maïté arrived today and we all spent the afternoon decorating the local Salle des Fêtes for the extended family get together planned for the following day. In the evening a kitchen singalong rehearsed songs in both french and basque in readiness for the next day. One rollicking number is called Les fêtes de Mauléon and I was jokingly assured it is known around the world. (From subsequent research on Google, it was written in the sixties by a prolific basque local song writer, Pierre Bordaçarre Etxahun-Iruri, and from YouTube it seems it’s very popular at local fetes, with brass bands, and especially with rugby crowds.)
