Euro tandem 2012
17th Jul 2012 - 18th Jul 2012
(Day 47-4 Paris-Abu Dhabi-Sydney

We were at the airport early Tuesday morning to check into Etihad business class, thanks to the travel insurance company. The “travel assist” arrangements also arranged by the insurance company provided wheelchairs for Anne in each of the airports and fast tracked us through airport processes. Prior to leaving CDG airport Anne had an injection as a precaution against blood clots in the ankle. Getting from Etihad in Terminal 2A to the medical centre in T 2F with the “travel assist” was an adventure and in retrospect using the crutches and a taxi or the airport shuttles would have been less stressful. We were very impressed by Etihad’s seats (modules) that convert into flat beds and we got a reasonable amount of sleep and arrived relatively refreshed at 6pm on Wednesday night. It was wondeful to be met by Kieran and Sam and taken on to a family dinner with more Sydney family.

Next: (Day 49) Sydney to home
Previous: (Jour 45-46) Barcus to Poitiers to Paris (CDG Airport)

17th Jul 2012  Turn it off - Abu Dhabi airport
This sign in the terminal building reads: "If everyone who saw this poster today turned the tap off while brushing their teeth, we'd save enough water to fill 1, 000 bathtubs." "Take a small step. Make a big difference."

17th Jul 2012  And turn off the power too
"If everyone passing through this airport turned off a light in their home for 1 hour a day for the next year, we'd stop 1, 000 tonnes of CO2 from being released into the atmosphere"
