Fr Tom and Philip's pilgrimage
9th Jul 2012
Ponte d'Arbia to San Quirico d'Orcia

Apologies if you only got half of the blog last night - ran out of credit.
Today was a really easy day - a mix of roads & 'white' roads winding their way through the cornfields. There is a lot of dust - I have a picture of a poor cyclist getting totally blasted by a truck - but generally the roads were quiet.
We saw a large hawk we couldn't identify - striated body & wings but the edges much darker. Looked very impressive with the sunlight shining through it.
The priest here is very 'hands on' with the hostel, making sure that everybody looks after the place.
Some of the places we've stayed have left a lot to be desired in terms of hygiene - so it's good to see someone who cares about these things. There's also a list of the local restaurants, with prices - all good stuff. The priest invited me to concelebrate at 6am.
Tomorrow is a much harder day - a fair amount of climbing.
Hot 27.7km

Next: San Quirico d'Orcia to Radicofani
