Pork and Chop's Travels!
24th May 2012 - 1st Jun 2012
10 days in Koh Tao

We arrived in Koh Tao on the 22nd from Bangkok. It was a 7 hr bus ride through the night to the port (the bus driver left 2 passengers at the loo stop, so we had to go back and try and find them!) We got off and were dropped on the side of the road for an hour and then put into an army truck and taken to the dock. We waited for 3 hours and had every possible diver instreuctor approach us and ask us if we were goinbg to book with them. Koh Tao is the place for diving - it is the cheapest placein the world apparently to get the PADI and everyone 'cool' does it! Rob and I were labelled pathetic snorkellers because we didn't want to spend the 180 usd each this time round! Haha - we didn't mind though we love snorkelling but the whole island is full of 'diving snobs' haha.

We met up with our friend Becky from Laos and the next day we all decided to go snorkelling for my bday! We hired a private long tail boat and all went into the sea- saw the most amazing things! We saw all these zebra fish and coral and sea slugs and angel fish etc - Rob said the Great Barrier reef is much better but he said it was still good! :) We spent hours in the sea and then went back and had dinner. There are loads of BBQ places on the island - it is really small and one main beach called Sairee which is where we stayed. We decided to go on the Koh Tao pub crawl... we thought we would be like the only ones but it was packed! We got a free tshirt, bucket, shot and discounts. We went to a beach bar called lotus and we had to play a game where you had to find some one with the opposite word to you.. Becky won it and she got a voucher for 1000 bhat off a tattoo! haha. We then went to a lady boy show......... OMG! we were in hysterics - they look just like women! Some of them you can tell but alot of them we were trying to think if they were really men because they just didn't appear to be! They did a few dances and it was very harmless. After 20mins of that we went back to a bar and they had a man playing on guitar and then we ended up in another bar on the beach - was nice.

We met some funny guys one from Wales and one from Scotland and one fropm Germany. We told them they shoudl come to the lady boy show because it was totally harmless - Becky had met some friends on her cool diving course so we all met up later and went for dinner - finally got the boys of the group to man up and come to the lady boy show! OMG  - totally different show after hours HAHAH we told themit was completelky harmless but we obviously went to the PG version and were now in the X rated one!! Nothing too bad but was alot more than the last time! They did lots of dances and were really good and then they dragged up from the audience Nick (welsh boy) and made him sit on a chair and then they gave him a dance!!! He did not know what to do lol! We were laughing so much and at the end they got random boys out the audience and Rob was one of them........ they came out at the end and did a 'special show' where all the boys were dressed up as women!!!! They had to come out and do a dance! Rob waqs enjoying it whey too much - he asked us to now call him Roberta... I lost a load of pictures but good job Becky got some so I will get them on here....! The lady boy at the end told me to 'go home and he/she was going to keep Rob..!' ahhhhhhhh

We got a bike out one day andthought we would try and see more of the island but the roads were completely undrivable! Grit, sand rocks for roads so we made a U turn and drove it back after cutting Robs feet and nearly falling off it! We wanted to go snorkelling again so booked a boat trip for the day. It took us the whole way around the island! Was really good they took us to this private island and got the best pics (but lost them) and then the heavens completely opened and we got completely drenched!! The boat was rocking all over the place! We spent the rest of our time there hanging out with Becky, chilling in the evening at the beach bars, eating BBQ food (2 pounds for 2 massive sticks with potato!) There were also some good bars which you laid down in and watched films - we saw the Dictator with Ali G and Avengers, was really good! Weather has not been good - 6/10 days it poured down. Becky and I decided to go in the sea anyways and were the only ones! There's not much to do when it rains. We spent the last day making the most of the sun and chilled up at Becky's diving resort in her really nice pool!

We thought Kho Tao was really nice but maybe we stayed there a little too long! lol. We booked our visa run so we had to run to the Burma border to get another 15 days on our passports for Thailand. That was a pick up at 9pm we got back at 4pm the next day to Kho Phangan and are so excited for this island!! Ali and Scott are meeting us there (our friends from Canada - we hung out in Laos!)

1 new thing: I no longer eat eggs....Egged out! Havent eaten eggs in almost a month!

Hope everyone back home is doing well! Hope the weather is OK and everyone enjoyed the jubilee!!! Good luck to Louise and Michael on your exciting move to China! Lots of Love!! xxxxxxxxxx
