Your trip
Enjoyed your trip report, what a challange. I live in Kuranda, Far North Queensland, Australia and have about 6 series 1 land rovers. I've restored a 1957 that I have been driving daily for the last 2 years. I travel up to the tip of Cape York a couple of times each dry season in the series 1. A few weeks ago I was up the cape and met the drivers of no.16, Silver Ghost Rolls Royce, thats what prompted me to find your site. Good to see the rovers still going. If you travel my direction please look me up.
Kindest regards, Lyle kurandabed@tpg.com.au

Response to Ronald Davis
Ronald. Sounds an interesting car. However, I doubt that the Rally organisers will accept a non-original car, not withstanding external appearances. Only safety related mods have previously been accepted. Perhaps look to other events or an alternative vehicle? Good luck.....and keep a blog!

1950 ford woodie 4x4
I have a 1950 Ford woodie ( shooting brake) I was wanting to enter in 2007 the entry was refused because my frame and running gear were/are to new, 1985 Jeep wagoneer. the rest of the car appears as original, there are only two 4 wheel drive 1950 Ford woodies in the world. I'm currently planning another car for the next run, but would prefer to run the 50 Ford if there was a way to get them to reconsider, any ideas?

Thoroughly enjoying the account - recognise the St P etersburg traffic. Delighted Roger laid out the carpet for you in Moscow . Good luck to both of you for a triumphant arrival in Paris.

Catching up
Hi Mike
Just caught up with your travels. Moscow sounded "fun".Seems like you are doing great. I will keep the card from Mongolia as I dont suppose I will get many from there! See you soon

Cheers!
Of all the blogs I'm following on this incredible journey, I must say that I'm enjoying yours the most! My friend Jay in car 122 is blogless and it is mostly through your eyes that I'm able to get the true "flavor" of the rally. Thank you so much for letting all of us share in your awesome adventure!
Wishing you continued success AND lots of fun... Barrie
