Salamat pagi
Hey buddy I am enjoying your updates, but you haven't said a whole heap about your new job. So what do you do exactly, what's your office like, how many people do you manage, etc etc. It sounds like you are settling in to life in Jakarta which is good to hear. All is ok here - working on hard on getting the business up and running. Its a lot of time and effort but hopefully over the coming months we will start to see some returns. Keep up the news M xox

Anda
Thanks for writing about Anda, Simone. Subtelties of language can reveal much that's interesting about a culture (and about a person)..well-worth tuning into. Good point well-made. X

Catching up on your news
Hey Sim I found time this morning over a cup of tea to catch up on your last few posts. It is indeed a tragedy what has happened in Indonesia with the recent earthquake, as well as in Samoa. Out of interest some sailing friends we met in Florida had pulled into Samoa the day before the earthquake. On the day of the tsunami, their beautiful boat was picked up by the wave, swept overland into the town, swept back out again and dumped from great height onto rocks where it now sits destroyed. They are all ok but incredibly sad that there amazing journey has come to such a devastating end. Mother earth is not happy and these are the prices to pay. Hope you are well lovely lady. We moved into our office last week, so all going fine here. Cheers M xox

People coming together
Ooooh Sim, I understand completely how must grieve for this tragedy and all the poor innocent people involved. But in some strange silly way, I can't help but think that these things somehow bring people together and force people to see humanity again...and to work together to help...instead of all these stupid wars and fights...these tragedies make people fight to help instead of hurt. Big chin up and believe that there is some good to come from this - love compassion determination. and giving back to the earth, as it is clear it is a force stronger than us and we need to give back to it...stop taking from it! xoxoxoxo big hug simmy!!!!! I love that you care

It's just the beginning
It's a tragedy in Sumatra, but unfortunately so much more, and so much bigger is on the way. The cause of this tragedy is more powerful now than it was a day or a week ago, so we're going to have to get used to this happening as a part of life.

Well done!
Hey buddy I just caught up with your blog. Wow, you are really there! Life sounds so different to Vietnam. I guess it will take time to get used to living in Jakarta, but I am sure you will have a ball and make the most of it as you always do. In relation to the armed guards everywhere, one thing that amazed me was on our trip in central America, especially in Mexico and Guatemala, for there to be armed guards everywhere (even at the bus stops) and a heavy military presence. I have seen it in South America, but it comes as a surprise when you aren't used to having them around. My fabric arrived yesterday so I can't wait to see it. Keep up the blog as I am very interested to see where you end up living - make the most of that luxury for the next month or two M xox
