The Earth Moves

On 31st May, Our web server hosting provider The Planet (theplanet.com) suffered an explosion in Houston, Texas, which led to an outage that affected approximately 9,000 servers and 7,500 of their customers.

The explosion and accompanying fire knocked down three walls surrounding the facility's electrical equipment room, as well as destroying the underground cabling that powered the first floor of the facility. Fortunately, there were no injuries, nor were any servers damaged or lost.

GetJealous.com engineers were on the case within an hour of the incident, and were able re-route our users to backup servers. We were able to get the site back-up and running within two hours, and no data was lost. During this time, some of our members may have found that their photos weren't displaying

We are proud of our ability to restore everything to normal within such a short time, and congratulate everyone who put so much work into sorting this unexpected event so quickly. Other sites within the planets hosting enviroment were unavailable for two weeks
