Machu Picchu!

Here we are, back from the Machu Picchu!!!!
God, what a trip! It felt like going to the end of the world!
The site is incredible, it`s amazing to think about the way they built this whole city so high in the mountains.
The train to get there is so expensive though, Peru Rail is taking the piss! 70 dollars for a round trip! We found a cheaper way, combining the train with a local bus (train from Ollantaytambo).
The train is the only way to get to Aguas Calientes, closest village to the Machu Picchu. The locals have their own train coaches (it felt a bit like the camps during WW2) and carry loads of food and stuff for the residents stuck there.
Everything is quite expensive, incluing the bus to go to the Machu Picchu ($12 for 20mn) and $25 to get access to the archeological site.
Well, no choice, so we paid! But we walked down from there, an hour in the "Jungle"!
Our guide was really nice, and after more than 3 hours walking around the site Beto decided to get more adventurous and climb the Wayna Picchu! I am a chicken (when you see the pixs you`ll understand why!) so I stayed on my own and walked around the site and played with the llamas while Beto suffered for 4 hours. He`s so brave :-)
We are now in Cuzco, visiting the local sites and museums.
Tonight we are going to the lake Titicaca and tomorrow night we`ll stay with the Indians on the Amantani Island, on the lake... Quite scared actually, I want my bed!!!!!!!!!!
Oh and I am finally getting some tan. Happy me.
Hope you have a great day. Thanks for all the messages, Beto is happy! Well done! And Mum, please stop fighting with Afro!!

Bonjour a tous!
Bisous a tous!
Merci de vos messages!

Next: Titicaca Lake, Altiplano (4200m high)
