Gads & Hads Top Trip!
9th Aug 2006Sitka Having a wicked time in Sitka now. We arrived yesterday and got a shuttle bus to our hostel for $8 return. Hostel is really good, lots of ppl our age - we are going out with them tonight for Marks bday and then the 3 of us have booked a nice restaurant for his bday meal tomorrow as the ferry isnt til 11pm. Today we went to an aquarium which was free - you could touch the starfish, anemones and sea cucumbers! Then we walked through the totem park to the Alaska Raptor centre where they look after injured eagles, owls, hawks and other raptors. The tour was quite good, the best bit was when they brought in a bald eagle to the talk - it has a wing span of 6 1/2 feet! This afternoon we have hired a triple sea kayak for 4 hours. There`s loads of animals we could see like seals, sea lions, salmon maybe even some bears - we`d like to see one! Then tomorrow we are going cycling for the day, hiring some bikes only $25 each here, its much cheaper here. Going to both ends of the road to do some trails and maybe will be able to see bears there! I`ll be taking my spray!
