Kia Ora!!!

Kia Ora!!! `Hello` in kiwi!

Nearly three weeks have already passed us by! Again, I can`t believe it!!!

So far from what I`ve seen of New Zealand, I love it! It`s the most beautiful country that we`ve been to so far. This is definitely the best time to come here, even though it`s been pretty cold (5 to 10) degress the snow capped mountains are just so incredible to see. It`s crazy but I`ve never seen them in real life and seeing them for the first time really stunned me as they`re so beautiful, it`s something else to see them for real rather than on a TV screen!

For the past two weeks we`ve travelled down through the North island. We started our New Zealand adventure in Christchurch, where, to be honest with you we didn`t actually do very much! Sounds bad, but we`ve got two months here so we`ll have plenty of time (sorry just justifing it again to myself)! We did feel out of order one morning, we`d put our names down for a day trip but it got to 8.30am and we were still tucked up in bed (not together!) and had no intention of getting up...even when we heard our names being called out over the speaker we just put our ear plugs in and went back to sleep...for a couple more hours!

As we were walking out of our hostel we bumped into a girl we met in Agnes Water in Az, so the three of us went for a proper Sunday roast! The first since we`ve been away and oh my God it was SO good! We entered a quiz, and even though we came last we got a $20 bar tab which we put towards a desert! Apple crumble....can`t get any better than that!

We spent a few nights at Lake Tekapo, it`s the smallest town- it hadn`t even got a pub so that makes it worse the Damerham - by the side of a huge lake surrounded by snow capped mountains....the scenery was stunning. It was a nice place to chill out after our hectic few days in Christchurch!!!! We did actually get up and out to spend a few hours walking in the countryside!

We`ve just left Queenstown where we stayed for just under two weeks.

I had a go at snow boarding and it`s a lot harder than what it looks! Well I thought so anyway. We booked a couple of lessons to start with just to get into the swing of things. After the first hour we weren`t doing too badly, both of us had fallen over here or there but we were starting to get the hang of standing and turning....that was until Jo fell not badly but twisted her knee pretty badly. I helped her hobble to the medical centre where at first they thought she`d broken her knee. We ended up having to get an ambulance to the hosptial. Jo was given some gas and air to relieve the pain...I had some just for a giggle! But it did nothing except make me tired...we were sat in A&E for a few hours and I felt like jumping in a spare bed to have a kip! Anyway, after an X-ray and a few prods and pokes we were sent on our way as it appeared that Jo`s knee was still in tact...a week or so on and she`s walking without her crutches which is SO good as it would`ve stopped her doing loads.

Anyway, I went back snowboarding to try my luck again and still after my second lesson I still sucked, actually think I got worse! I don`t think it helped that I only had four hours sleep and woke up still feeling the affect from the alcohol the night before! They say the first few days are the worst especially if you`re learning, they`re not wrong! My legs killed, muscles that I didn`t even know I had were aching!

We didn`t get to do any bungy jumping or skydiving in Queenstown, however we`ve been told it`s cheeper to do it in the South island at Lake Taupo. I`m definitely doing a skydive, however I`m in two minds about doing a bungy, it looks like wicked fun but I`ll have to check it out and whether I could do my back in....watch this space!

For the last two nights we`ve been at Wanaka, which is another small town beside a lake...and again it was beautifull. Not loads to do on a budget, however we did go jet boating. It`s exactly that, a boat with a jet on it that skims you over the water at 80kph! Loads of fun!!!! We also went to the cinema last night...a cinema where you sit in sofas and armchairs! You can even watch a film sat in a VW beetle!

Today we arrived in Franz Josef. We`ve managed to get some cleaning work in the hostel as we`re getting pretty skint!!! We might stay here for four or five nights depending on the work situation. I`ve got a feeling the landlord is going to be really fusy how she wants things done, but that doesn`t matter as long as it`s paying for our accommodation. We`re going to spend a day hiking on Franz Josef glacier which I can`t wait for as it`ll be different to anything else I`ve ever done. Apart from that there`s not that much else to do here....

I`ll let you know soon how we get on with the hike!
