Griffo round the world
11th Sep 2006
Cuzco

G`day everyone.
Not sure where i left off but there has been plenty in between. Anyway after the passport issues (i got it back which saved a massive hassel) we hung around in Arequipa for a while. WE weren`t able to orgainise any formal teaching english to learn spanish classes, but instead we met heaps of people just in the street and through a couple of friends in the hostel that were keen to teach us some spanish. This ended up being really good, so we stayed in Arequipa about a week after i got my passport back. Apart from this, met some other really cool people, this bloke from Switzerland (Micheal) who we hung around with for a while, a kiwi bloked called robbie who gave us some really good tips (an awesome hostel in Cuzco fro one), another bloke Marcel from Switzerland, and the people from the hostel, Rosio, Karen, Victer, Hugo and others.

Our guide Jenny, from our tour of Caņon del Colca invited us beack to her house one arvo, where she cooked us some traditional peruvian food (i ate a whole guinea pig). Went out to a salsa club with some of the people from the hostel, Dan, I and Micheal were the only white people in the place. After we got over the feeling of everyone staring at us, we got up there and danced some salsa. Everyone said we went to bad which was good to hear.

After spending so much time in Arequipa, we were pretty keen to move on and get to Cuzco. Once here, we orgainsied a tour for MAchu Picchu. This was awesome. We had one day mountain biking all downhill then 2 days walking to Aguas Callientes (the town right near Machu Picchu) and one day at MAchu PIcchu. THis place was awesome and unbeliveable, i took a heap of photos and have posted some of them here (sorry about the overload of MAchu Picchu). Anyway not sure what else to say, an amazing experience, and amazing place, although we did have to work for it, Dan, me and this other aussie bloke Ian did a shitload of walking on this day. Am still recoverying now (got fairly sick, but should be better in a couple of days).

Met this American bloke DAve, at the hostel in Cuzco who invited us to stay with him in LA, so that should be really good, it will give us a couple of days to find our feet in this massive city.

Anyway there a heap that i have forgotten to put down here, but right now i`m struggling to concentrate so i`ve leave it here. If anyone wants to know anything speifically, just email me directy on agriff12@postoffice.csu.edu.au or leave a msg for me on the msg board. Cheers for now, enjoy the photos.
griffo.

PS, tonite we head for Puno, to visit the floating islands, and then on to La Paz in Bolivia,
