Nature Today

Nature has made it’s presense known in a number of ways today.

Right now I’ve just jumped up to unplug my computer and e-mail connection as it’s begun to thunder. One of the first lessons I learned in Zambia almost 6 years ago was that you can’t resuscitate a fried modem!!

Earlier this afternoon I heard a buzzing noise only to discover that some bees had come to call. Potentially the end of a productive afternoon. Some months ago there was a major infestation in the roof of my house, fortunately today their visit was short lived …

And just this morning I discovered some sort of insect /creature had eaten a hole in my dress of choice for today!!! As I let out a rather exasperated sigh about the demise of the dress I recalled that Jesus had something to say about exactly that – He said “Don’t store up treasures here on earth, (the dress was hardly a treasure in fact it was purchased pretty cheaply in a 2nd hand clothing market in the town of Busia on the border of Kenya and Uganda) where they can be eaten my moths and get rusty, and where thieves can break in and steal.” Instead he said “store up treasures in heaven where they will never become moth-eaten … “Made me think … as I`m wondering if the moth had a go another garment that met a similar fate - a favourite that wasn’t from ‘the market’ … Hmmm.

“Where ever your treasure is where your heart and thoughts will also be”. Matt 6:19-21 NLT

Reminded me about choices and responses as I proceeded on with the task at hand.
