Sailing around the Whitsunday Islands

Are you all sick of these diary things yet?
I am now in Cairns which is my last stop in Australia for this visit :( ... will be very sad to leave! Had anpther busy week this week. We spent a day in Airlie Beach which is the springboard to the Whitsunday Islands. Airlie itself is a nice enough little place but the hostel we stayed at was awful!!! Anyone planning on travelling up the east coast of Australia, take my word for it and do not ever stay at Magnums Backpackers!!! But lets not get into that. The sailing trip on the Whitsundays was wonderful!! We sailed around the islands for 3 days and 2 nights with a group of 20 people who were fantastic! We stopped off at Whitehaven beach which was gorgeous and we snorkled on the barrier reef which of course, was fantastic. In the evenings we sat on deck drinking Goon and eating wonderful meals, cooked for us by the crew! Made some really good friends on the trip and we all went drinking together at the rum bar in Airlie once were back, and then 7 of us decided to continue up the coast together for a few nights in Magnetic Island which is just off the coast at Townsville. Magnetic Island is a beautiful little place, we stayed in a fantastic hostel with our own private beach and although the whether could have been better we had a really good chilled out few days on the beach and in the bar (Did I mention that the friends we travelled with are Irish?...they can hold their drink!!)
Arrived in Cairns yesterday, very nice so far although the temperature is over 30 and its pretty humid! I am planning on going up to Cape Tribulation for a few days and maybe getting in a scuba dive or two on the reef!!
Speak to you all soon, keep filling me in on the gossip!! xxxx
