Screw my wife, the Elephant gets a monument

Went to Fatahpur Sikri today. Met this woman in the Gorakhpur train station who recommended a guest house. They came to pick me up at the bus, gave me the nicest room I`ve had the whole trip for half the price I`ve paid anywhere else, gave me a free guided tour of the Mosque and generally treated me like family. So great. The view from the roof of the guest house was amazing. You could see the ruins, the whole old city, and the dried lake bed. Stunning sunset. I only stayed one night but it was lovely.

The palace was okay. Not worth the price I paid to get in. However, the King that built it was hilarious. He used to play parchesi with slave girls as the pieces and when his favorite elephant died he built it a huge monument. Huge.

I didn`t believe the guy at the guest house about where the bus left from and it turns out the Lonely Planet was wrong and he was right. He came back and picked me up and drove me to the right bus stand, just cause he was a nice guy (and to gloat a little ;)). Not much else happened here. Pretty standard stuff.
