Peace out!

Hangin with Rach Hey all, It`s been about a week since my last entry and we`ve done quite a bit, i`ll make it brief though as only have 20 mins left on the net. We stayed near Wellington for the night, then headed back up to Tongariro National Park to do the Tongariro Crossing - the dude at the hostel let us stay one night for free as well which was wicked, and also let us have some grub and booze when he`d organised a little BBQ with his mates who are Fireys (that`s blokes in teh Fire Brigade to you and me ;0)). So we had to get up early to do the crossing, we left the hostel at 7.15 in millions of layers of clothes which we were told to wear to keep us warm up in the crater, we never got cold though and ended up just having to carry round lots of extra clothes! We also had water & first aid kit and stuff just in case. The walk started off ok, then got tough as we had to climb up a mountain, but then it was wicked...we walked between 2 volcanoes, saw amazing coloured lakes and wicked craters. We got chatting to people along the way as well, so all in all it was really enjoyable. We were pretty knackered after we`d done it though - it took 7 hours (17km), but we made it back alive. After Tongariro Rach got in touch and mentioned that she was in Taupo, we were only 50km away so arranged to pick her up the next day and then decide from there where to go and what to do. So the next day me and Andy drove to Taupo to pick Rach up from the backpackers, we were a little late cos it poured it down on us in the morning when we were tryin to pack away our tent. It was so nice to see Rach again, so we all went into a little cafe to catch up and have a good old goss. Then we did some shopping and headed up towards to Coromandel Peninsular. We arrived in a place called Waihi - and checked into this really cool log cabin for a couple of nights. It was cool - we looked around the town and at some sights, then chilled in the cabin with some wine and beer, it was nice havin Rach there as well as she`s a savage cook and made us some real good food - that beats tuna sandwiches, which we had been livin on for the last week. There were ducks and stuff about on the grounds, Andy loved feeding the ducks and made friends with a little duck with one leg, we called him one-leg...believe it or not! Then we moved on to a place called Hahei, where there`s a beach nearby called hot water beach - it`s called that cos there are hot springs under the sand, and when you dig a people sized hole it becomes a little hot pool...and I mean really HOT, it was actually too hot to sit in at times. Andy almost cut my toe off with a shovel as well that day on the beach, cos he was diggin our pool and my toe was under the sand - it`s ok though. We also went to a place called Cathedral Cove, which is wicked - it was a proper nice sunny day, and really warm - we did about an hour and a half walk to the cove and it`s an amazing little place, there`s a big cave that you can walk through that is massive (like a cathedral) and the sea is lovely and the sand white - so we chilled there for the day, trying to swim every now and then in the really cold sea haha. On our last day with Rach we stayed on a farm called Colville Farm - Rach was in a little caravan (well pretty big) which had an attached bit with a bunk in it. Then some random guy arrived, and so him and Rach had to share a bunk - he had his eye on her from the start, but she wasn`t interested...he was a little strange and freaked us all out a bit! But it was cool cos there was a double bed that me and Andy slept in in the caravan rather than having to brave the cold in our tent. So we chilled, and drank wine and stuff and listened to music. Then we got to feed the animals on the farm, and even milk Daisy the cow - which really hurts your hands after a while. Then we drove to Auckland and checked into a hostel - that nigth we met up with Kursten and Dean that used to work at Thus, we had some drinks, then me, Andy & Rach went for a nice Japanese meal then on for some more drinks - it was fun. Today we left Rach and me and And are now in Fiji, it`s cloudy but 30 degrees...we`re staying on the mainland for tonight then head to one of the islands tomorrow to tan it up for 2 weeks, can`t wait. Rach hope you`re all good, keep lovin life and look after yourself. Hope the surfing goes well, you`ll be a pro in no time. Charles - can`t believe i`ll be back in 3 weeks, will be savage to see you again - feels like we`re on the home straight now. And to everyone else, miss ya xxxx Debs :0)
