My World Tour... well kinda!
28th Apr 2007
Geneva, Switzerland

So I made my way back to Switzerland. This time it was sunny and, most importantly, WARM! If you remember, I went to Geneva in the beginning of February... however, I might be the only one to remember that it was FREEZING. This time the trip was with my program (AIFS) and organized.

We started with a tour of the United Nations. I learned that the UN in Geneva is second largest after the one in New York. There were other random interesting things as well. What I liked the most was the different pieces of art along the hallways, each donated by different countries. Interestingly enough almost all materials used in the building were donated by different countries: doors from France, marble from Italy, carpet from the Phillipines, etc. Oh yea, we were all loving the fountain in front of the UN also. It was very unique. Check out the video clip at the bottom of the page when you finish looking at pictures.

Our next stop was the International Red Cross Museum. This one was okay. It was a really quick visit since there wasn`t too much to see. There was nothing particularly interesting to report back to you. I did, however, like the statues that were in front of the building as well as inside. They each resembled a human being walking (or sitting) with their heads covered, almost like they were in bondage. I have no idea what they meant but I took a cool picture with one!

Afterward, we headed to the center of town for free time. Unfortunately, there was only about two hours for us to eat and roam around. This was a bit frustrating since the day was so lovely and there was lots to see and do. I`m just happy that I did a lot of sightseeing the first time that I came.

Check out the pictures!
