My World Tour... well kinda!
30th Apr 2007
When in France, do like the French

France has a lot of vacation. But, even luckier for me, there are lots of national holidays in the month of May. Four to be exact -and none of them are weekends. Two of them are Tuesdays. This past Monday, the day before the nation`s equivilent of our Labor Day, we were also given the day off. It`s called a "pont" or a bridge to the holiday. Classes were cancelled and rescheduled so that we could get out of town! Whoo hoo. This Monday I don`t have any classes which gives me another "pont" into the holiday on Tuesday. Then there is May 16th and 17th off (a thurs & fri). So that effectively gives me THREE four day weekends in May! Have I said that I love France lately?

Well I definitely made use of that "pont". After going to Geneva on Saturday, some friends and I decided to catch a train over to Annecy. It`s a beautiful little city in France in the direction of Switzerland. The tickets are very cheap and it only took two hours to get there.

I loved it. It reminds me of Venice... and the lake is absolutely BEAUTIFUL. The water was crystal clear in the shallow parts (hence the greenish blue water). If it didn`t feel like ice, I would`ve been tempted to jump in - clothes and all!

We mostly spent the day relaxing and soaking in the sun. That is until it went away and brought about a massive thunderstorm, lol. If you haven`t heard thunder or experienced a storm in between mountains, I don`t recommend it at all. My little heart nearly died. But we made it out safely. Even though we left earlier than expected, it was a fabulous day. Enjoy the pics...

Annecy, France
Scene of the lake and a bit of the mountains in the back. The picture doesn't even begin to do it justice!
