 The Road trip concludes Now coming in to the final stretch of my time here in NZ (sob). Been having a fantastic time on our South Island road trip. Since writing last the girls and I have driven all round the South Island and had lots of exciting adventures en-route. We left Murchison and travelled south along the West coast stopping in various places for various activities. In Haast we experienced some excellent kiwi hospitality when we were invited to an all-night lock-in (starting at 9.30pm) in a random bar with free drinks all night and a free breakfast the following morning courtesy of the local chef!! We enjoyed similar hospitality in Te Anau courtesy of their local chef and also managed to wangle a free Milford sound day cruise complete with all-you-can-eat buffet lunch and a trip to an under-water observatory!! The weather was far less nice than on my previous Milford encounter but the waterfalls were even more spectacular and the whole place took on a mysterious feel! We left Sonya and Chops in Te Anau which was really sad but they are now back in Welly and all is good. Flo and I then continued on to Invercargill, Dunnedin and on to Christchurch with a few stops along the way. We`re now staying in a really cheap backpackers in Christchurch and learning to speak Japaneese in order to communicate with our new housemates which is lots of fun! The plan is to stay here for a few weeks and then head back to Welly for a few days before jetting off to Fiji on 3rd June!!!
