Leticia and Tabatinga

Leticia is the town furthest south east in Colombia in the Amazon. The Brazilian town of Tabatinga borders Leticia, and you can just walk from town to town without passport checks. Going to record some groups this week at a great venue near the airport called Karana. If you are in Leticia you should check this place out.

Saw an interesting thing a few days ago. When we were eating at an outside cafe, police pulled up along the curb in a van, got out with....musical instruments and proceeded to make a public humiliation (all in fun really) of this guy who had parked his motorcycle illegally. They do this continuously, its quite amusing and par for the course in this unusual jungle town.

Going to Puerto Nariņo this afternoon to check out a massive congregation of many indigineous groups coming in from all parts of the Amazon to talk about issues, have cultural events etc. Should be good.

Next: Puerto Nariņo and more
Previous: Manaus, hub of the Amazon
