18th Aug 2007Indonesia In Contrast! Well, Kaliandra seems like a bit of a distant memory now after a hectic week in Bali. After 3 days in Ubud, the cultural heart of Bali, where we haggled our way through the busy markets, dodging the pulling hands of insistent market traders and then the Monkey Sanctuary being mauled by hungry Macaks, we departed for Kuta. From the tranquility of Ubud, Kuta came as a bit of a shock! After lots of pool and beach action during the day, and nice meals at night, it had to come to an end. So now, after a teary farewell to some very good friends who I wont forget, Kelvin and myself prepare for the rest of our little adventure as we trek across Java for a few weeks from Jakarta to Surabaya and everywhere in-between until returning to Kaliandra in September to work there for a further 3 months.
