![]() Opening the playground It was a proud day for the volunteers as we arrived to find the playground dressed up ready for the grand opening. It had been a hectic week with the key workers up at dawn every day and the whole team helping with the final construction on site. We were still putting the final touches to the playgrounds the night before but we were deligted and surprised by the welcome that awaited us. The whole school lined up in anticipation and sat patiently though the official speeches. Once the talking was over it was down to play, I was ushered to cut the ribbon and we were away. It fell to the designer to test out the walkways with a not very subtle “if it will take his weight it will be safe for anybody”. The education officials came next followed by the scouts and then the whole school. Judging by the enthusiasm shown, playground seemed to be a great hit with the kids – and one or two mums and dads. The smaller dragon playground was also finished on time and as we left Kaliandra the coach stopped at the small kindergarten so we could all take a look and final photo opportunity. Rupert
