Return to Kaliandra and the 'Programme'!

Well after an early surprise return to Kaliandra from our travels, Kelvin and myself came back to celebrate Mr Bagoes birthday with all staff and family from Kaliandra! It was a lovely night where many people paid their respects to Mr Bagoes (although we didnt realise what was being said a tthe time!) and ended with a traditional dinner.

Me and Kelv were then treated to another night in the eco-lodges before Kelv left the next day. Now Kelv is safely back in England, that leaves me here now to keep the blog updated with what’s going on!

Firstly, since ive been back ive been helping with the ‘Programme’ that we all heard so much about but were never too sure what it meant! Over the 5-6th we had new student general and dental nurses from Surabaya University who took part in a programme of activities and ‘lectures’ to encourage them to be stronger leaders and team-workers. The activities, many of which involved water and the students getting wet with every mistake, tested communication skills, listening, intelligence and logic. Talks and letures focussed more on motivation, self-confidence and other qualities. From not really seeing what happens when we were here before Bali, this really demonstrated how effective and devoted the Kaliandra staff really are, with Anam and Sugi being powerful characters throughout the day’s activities.

Those groups have now left, so after working from 6am-12am for 2 days, we took a well-deserved rest before the next 2 groups arrive today, totalling 120 people!!! I will help out again later but am also starting work on the website, discovering what exactly Kaliandra would like to see.

That’s all for now, but I will try to keep updates as regular as possible.

Andy
