29th Aug 2007 - 30th Aug 2007Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous Had a mega long driving day yesterday, spent 8 hours in total on the road. As per usual I was asleep for most of it. We arrived in Antibes, in the French Riviera late afternoon to set up camp. The site is a bit strange cos it`s on a farm-we`ve been warned not to pet the animals! The family who run the place are so nice though, definitely the friendliest place I`ve visited so far. The only problem is there`s not much here-a few toilets/showers, 2 phones, A BAR! and lots of tents. That`s it! Because we`d arrived late no one was really in the mood for much, we walked down the road to the carnival but it was a bit dodgy. Hit the bar for about an hour then had a little toast party lol. A couple of us raided the cook`s tent when the rest had gone to bed and made vegemite on toast (I`m told it`s an Aussie thing-not sure what it was supposed to be but it smelt a bit like poo). The second night here has got to be one of the best of the tour so far. Didn`t do anything during the day, just sat in the sun. Evening came round and we were in for a bit of a treat! We went to Monaco for the night, stopped to have dinner (at the spot where Grace Kelly died-and took a pic of Bono U2`s house) then we went to Monte Carlo to hit the casinos! Got some good pics of the famous one, the Bond one woo and the row of fancy cars parked outside. It was 10 euros to get inside the main entrance but we went round the side through the toilets-very classy! Went straight to the bar and obviously ordered martini (shaken not stirred) but it wasn`t that nice so went back to vodka. Ty owed me a drink so made him buy the next one. Cost 13 euros for a vodka and coke! Wandered round for a bit, watched a few rich people betting. One girl on the tour got a 500 euro chip off one of the men and blew it all! I wandered off with Ty and Gai to find some fruit machines. I wasn`t planning on spending any money, just went to watch Ty waste his but in the middle of all the rows of poker machines I spotted a lucky leprechaun game and I couldn`t resist. I put 5 euros in and pushed a few buttons, the machine started screaming and flashing and a ticket for 23 euros flew out. Woo! I was a bit excited then so I had another go, in went another 5 euros out popped another ticket! The third try was the best, 5 euros in as usual push a few buttons, machine screams again then the leprechaun appears to say I`ve found Lucky`s Charm-pick a pot. With luck on my side I obviously found the highest pot and got a free turn. Hadn`t a clue what I was doing, just knew I was winning! Pressed a few more buttons then quit while I was ahead. I ended up winning 85 euros in total (minus the 15 I`d spent). Had a fantastic night. We left Monte Carlo and headed back home (had a Bon Jovi sing a long!) got back about 11pm so went to the bar to celebrate winnings and birthdays tomorrow. Didn`t spend much, but know I was very drunk and had an awesome time!
