A Heavy Sturm in Wien

Running to the train station at 10 to 6 in the morning, jumping on to the very last car as it pulls away without a minute to spare wasn`t exactly how I imagined I`d be parting ways with Warsaw, my home for the last 5 months. But fortunately, sweaty and out of breath, I made the train and didn`t screw up my plans to meet with Steph in Vienna that afternoon.

It was really fun being shown around by Steph, who lived in Vienna 5 years ago. The cool architecture of Prague, Zagreb and other former Empire cities were just teasers to the grand-daddy grandiocity of the buildings in Vienna and it was nice being with someone who actually knew what most of them were. As opposed to my usual, "Mmmm... that looks important" style of self-guided tour.

In Austria, Septmber and October are the months you can buy sturm, a fermenting sweet wine, so we made sure to sample lots and lots as we wandered the city. Sample. spill, whatever.
