Out With A Bang: München

I`m sitting at Robbie`s computer waiting to catch a train to Frankfurt, where I`ll fly to Dublin and then home to Chicago. The past 5 days here have been so much fun, I don`t even know where to begin! How about by saying 3 of the 5 days we went to play at the Oktoberfest celebrations here in Munich... in costume.

I sported a light blue drindl with pink flower while Stephanie wore a striking red dirndl with a little white heart print. The floral theme of my smock was complimented by a fresh-as-spring green apron; Stephanie stuck to bold primaries and had a royal blue apron. The length of our drindls would barely have passed the Visitation standard of only 2 inches below the knee... we may have been at 2 1/2" or 3". Yikes. I felt like a weirdo walking out of the house the first day, but once we arrived to the fairgrounds and dove into the sea of dolled up Bavarians I was SO glad I didn`t wear jeans. Rob & Marty wore nice leather lederhosen and fancy black side-lacey shoes.

Pretzels were eaten, beer was consumed by the liter maß and candied nuts were thrown down people`s shirts. Benches were danced on, skirts were looked up and bald heads were drawn on with green marker. Marty and Robbie showed us such a good time; there`s just no way this will be my last Oktoberfest! Photos soon...
