Going Home, Going Home

Catastrophe strikes: I turn up at the wrong airport in Frankfurt Thursday night. Silly me didn`t know Frankfurt`s Hahn airport was 100 km and a 2 hour, 160 euro taxi ride from the main airport I`d rocked up to. The dominos started falling; I missed my flight to Dublin and I missed my flight from Dublin to Chicago. Picture me in my sleeping bag at 3 a.m. on the floor of an airport in Germany, just to the left of the Hertz rental car desk. Moral was approaching rock bottom and things were looking bleak until I finally boarded a later Aer Lingus flight to Chicago and discovered on-demand TV (including episodes of "Little Britain" and "Arrested Development"), video craps, trivia and an iPod-style music player on the backs of the airplane seats. Woo hoo! I didn`t sleep a second (approx. total hours awake = 48), landed in Chicago with a small tear in my eye that it`s all over, bussed over to Lucas Brown`s for a burger and a shower, then met up with the work crew for Marsha`s farewell drinks. Powering through the jet-lag and tiredness was the right decision-- I woke up at about 10 a.m. Saturday morning feelin` fine. Sad and happy at the same time, but mostly fine.
