Work at Byron Bay After managing to be given the job of `night manager` at the `Cape Byron` hostel i have been doing a lot of socialising around the hostel whilst carrying out my intense duties of picking people up from the bus stop throughout the day and then joining in the drinking and games at night...very responsible manager! The sunshine is very intense now and sometimes unbearable during the day however i must keep telling myself not to grumble. I have moved into my flat with two french lads (Tom & Arnold) and a french lass named Jessica. Unfortunately for Jessica she is in my room and has to endure the snoring after a few drinks..poor her! I have found my favourite spot so far, it is named `The Pass` and it is the end of main beach in byron bay. We go surfing there and almost everytime we seem to be joined by dolphins and the occasional sea turtle. We had our first taste of the Australian sharks the other day. I was paddling out roughly 35-40m from shore with a jock i met named Vinnie. He was on a body board as he wasn`t interested in surfing and we both noticed our friend Sarah on shore shouting and waving at us. After laughing and joking about the possibilities of it being a shark warning we looked down the coast only to realise we were the only people left in the ocean....it was a shark warning. A bull shark had been spotted about 200m down the coast heading down. managed to make it to shore unscathed however vinnies board shorts seemed to be a different colour! What made matters worse was that we also noticed vinnie was bleeding from a minor graze from the rocks...and we all know what sharks have a good smell for!! Anyhows lifes good at byron bay and will keep posting. hope to put some sunset photos from the beach...i still haven`t had my camera handy for those sweet moments!
cheers folks
