CSI Marathon - Still no fish

Me and Les wake up grinning at each other and to ourselves, we are warm in a very comfortable double bed in a log cabin on the shore of a lake in the rocky mountains. After sleeping in the truck for so long the comfort of the bed is hard to shake but then the log fire needs feeding so I do my duty.

Today is the 1st Day of fall (or as we say Autumn), its also the first day of snow! As I gaze out over the lake with axe in hand and up to the peaks they gleam with the first fallen snow of the year. The clouds threaten a lot more and hang with malign intent over the lake. Skip rings and glories in my lack of fish, it turns out that he and Sam knew it would snow today and had been looking out for us. Its a perfect day for stoking the fire and staying on the couch, we’ve not had a private place to do this since Hilary’s in Turkey and Les is happy because there’s CSI Miami on for about 7 hours continuous. This crime fest marathon leaves me at a loose end and I spend a large portion of the day freezing myself by desperately trying to catch a fish and warming myself by splitting wood for our fire.

The Day ends with home-made Pizza and a bottle of local wine called “Three Blind Moose” – Lovely. We love our life and feel blessed and privileged to be doing this, but travelling is tiring, its only when you stop for a moment somewhere so comfy and private that it surfaces, normally buried under the excitement of the new and the promise of the next destination. This cabin has given us recuperation time, something we’ve not had for 3 countries and several nights on airport floors ago.
