Going Home

The flight from Bukhara to Tashkent was only about 1 hour. But it didn`t arrive until about 10pm in Tashkent. My flight to Riga was at 7am. So I didn`t see any point in going into town to find a hotel since I`d have to come back to the airport in the middle of the night. So I walked over to the International Terminal and found myself a seat and sat down.

There weren`t many places that invited to sleep. But I found one place where I figured I could sit down, put my feet up on the seat in front of me, lean my head against the wall and sleep for a little while. But the seat was rock hard and it was impossible to sit for very long at a time. The light was very bright which also made it difficult. But worst of all was that the cleaners decided to clean the windows right where I was sitting. So in the end I didn`t get much sleep at all.

The flight was about 2 hours late leaving Tashkent. I had never before flown with airBaltic. But it was a 6 hour flight, no entertainment at all was provided, no food was included. The only thing they had was over priced sandwiches. Because the flight was delayed in Tashkent I nearly missed the connecting flight to Copenhagen. At 13.30 on Saturday March 1 I landed in Copenhagen. About an hour later I stepped off the train outside Malmö where my dad picked me up.

I was wearing my new Turkmen hat when he saw me. His first comment was "What the hell are you wearing?" It felt good to be back. The circumstances were off course anything but good. But it felt good to see my mom and dad, brother, nephew, and everyone else I hadn`t seen for almost 2.5 years.
