I love Australia! I love Australia! I can`t explain it but it just feels awesome to be here!!! I spent two nights at my former host`s place in Bondi Beach. Brilliant weather and I thoroughly enjoyed my 2 hour coastal walk. And meeting up with Jamie who had just moved from Perth to Sydney was really good. She is such a darling and we had a great time just chatting away and goofing around. Byron Bay, which was my next destination, was much better than the first time. I went there with my Sydney host Pete and stayed until the following Monday. The days were a lot warmer than in Sydney, but the nights a bit chilly. This time I enjoyed the hostel (a different one than the first time) too - at least a bit since I met some other travelers and went out partying with them. Pete was trying hard to hit on several girls.. Very amusing.. ;-) he claimed he just wanted to talk to people but it didn`t look quite like that to me. One of the travelers I met looked a bit familiar and as he said his name I realized why: Calvin and I had given this dude a ride 1,5 months before back in New Zealand! And now he was staying at the same hostel and I kept bumping into him all over Byron. In NZ I didn`t really get to talk to him as Jason and I both had huge headaches and as we went to see the pancake rocks we kept to ourselves and Cal entertained the hitchhiker. But he turned out to be quite ok now that I didn`t have that headache. I wonder where I bump into him next. ;-) I continued my journey on Monday by hitching to Brisbane. It was again an experience I wouldn`t have wanted to miss. And the longest wait was 5 minutes. :-) One of the guys who picked me up wanted to go have beer with some friends so I got to see the Billinudgel Hotel somewhere in the middle of nowhere. And no, I was not afraid. :-) Here in Brissy I posted about meeting up with people and immediately got a confirmation that teh CSers in Brisbane indeed are absolutely amazing and really active. I`ve mostly hung out with a Canadian girl, Katrina, but went out with a local guy as well for lunch. And have met some random travelers. For example I rescued a young German guy from the street and took him to stay at my host`s place (after I asked my host!). Now Matthias, who is btw from Bonn!!, is staying at a hostel where he is working for accomodation. He joined CS.And tonight I`m going to sing karaoke with a bunch of CSers and then out partying with some more Csers. I have no problems in finding accomodation here. It`s absolutely great! At the moment I`m staying with Judd whom I first met at the Oktoberfest, then in Perth, then several times in Melbourne and now in Brissy. He`s fun to be with. The only downside has been that Brook, the guy who picked me up as I was hitching (and who btw reads my blog ;-) ) and who I wrote about (that was the "every girl`s dream come true" dude ;-) ) is working somewhere in the middle of nowhere at the moment and I didn`t get to see him. ;-( But oh well, you can`t always win. Now I`m off to cheap drinks before karaoke starts. :-)
