Backpacking In Prada...

A feeling of sadness...

Well I am happy to say that I survived the Full Moon Party.  Like I said in my previous blog, I didn`t arrive in Koh Phagnan until 5:30 in the morning.  So my plan for the day was to hydrate and rest.  First of all let me just say that if you are looking to enjoy Thai culture, Koh Phagnan is probably not the best place for you.  This island is completely Westernized.  Every bar/restaurant plays American movies and television shows throughout the day, which is great because it allows you to slowly sober up with a Singha (beer) and an episode or two of Friends followed by the move Old School.

Anywayz, back to the Full Moon Experience.  The location of our hotel was fantastic, right on the beach and right in the middle of the party.  Sounds perfect right?  Well this is what I thougth also until I was woken up from my nap at 7pm to the pounding of bass against my wall from the speakers that were located about 100 feet from my window.  Ok so I will admit, the bass did get me even more excited for the party until I realized that if for some reason I wanted to go to bed at 4am, this wasn`t going to be possible because the music doesn`t end until 8 in the morning.  No, my thoughts weren`t of annoyance, my exact thoughts were, "Oh well, guess I will have to get an extra bucket to keep my going until 7 am."  What can I say, I am a trooper.  So how can I describe the Full Moon Party...Crazy, Rediculous...nope still looking for the right word to accurately describe the party.  You know how when you go to a popular dance club you have to wind your way through people, well imagine doing this on a huge beach.  I would say that there were atleast...actually I have no clue how many people were there.  Maybe atleast 5,000.  Yeah it was insane.  5,000 people with painted bodies, dancing on the beach until the sunrise.  And yes, I did make it to 7 am and was able to pass out the the thumping of the bass music.  Yes, mom and dad, you should be soooo proud=)
