New York Day 2 : A Random Day... Today has got to be the most random and probably one of the best days of my trip! Firstly the nights sleep last night was pretty good. Only problem was that the guy next to the aircon unit turned it off in the middle of the night and it got HOT. Six guys in the room meant by that three o`clock i got up to have a drink of water, went into the hall way and realised how effing hot it was in that room! Anywho i didnt get out of bed until 10ish. Sorry Vorovoro even though your sunrises were amazing, they haven`t cured me of my lie ins! I went accross the street this morning and got myself a bagel, cream cheese and bacon. Was AWESOME and it went EVERYWHERE! I then trekked it the 20 or so blocks to get a tube, you dont have to normally, i just couldnt find the 96th street entrance. I rode the subway all the way down to South Ferry. I then looked at the Statue of Liberty and walked back uptown through Soho. Yes i just looked at the Statue, i didnt bother getting a ferry or nuthin i just looked at it from the docks. Kinda muggy but i could still see it. Walking through Soho is like a shopaholics dreeam, and i only covered Broadway! There are so many cool shops kicking around all over the place! I went to Bloomingdales Soho and the NYC Apple Store, a really cool shop called Kidrobot and loads of other shops. I have yet to find Abercrombie and Fitch NYC, but i was in American Eagle Apparral today and i got myself a pair of shorts! Erm i then caught a train to Times Square and went to try and find this cybercafe that LP reccommends. Hint: DONT GO TO CYBERCAFE ON TIMES SQUARE, THE GUY IS A NUTJOB! I tried to upload some photos, but theyre crappy card reader didnt work properly. I then went and got a starbucks, second one of the day, only because it was half price. I have done alot of people watching and alot of writing in my diary today. It was infact about that time that i met Dave. Dave was just the guy standing next to me outside Toys R Us in Times Square ( they have an INDOOR Ferris Wheel! How cool is that!) aparrantly looking for someone. I thought hey this guy is just waiting for his girlfriend, or someone to take to dinner or something. I, being of a curious nature, asked him if he was looking for someone. "Yeah" he said "Good Place to meet them" I replied. It was you see about 7.30ish at night and i was about to head back to my hostel and buy a pot noodle and go to bed. I actually ended up helping him look for his two friends from the summer camp he worked at. When they finally arrived they were going to a comedy club and they invited me to come along. You see Dave was about to go home as these chicks were over an hour late! So we went to Times Square Comedy Club, saw some funny, some not so funny comdians. Then we went for BBQ! Down at the Dallas BBQ in Times Square. Now we went into the club at 9 and left at 11.30. The show was 2 hours long (only supposed to be 1.30) and they took about an hour to get us our flipping reciept. Drinks were slow as well, generally really really crappy service. We made it to the BBQ place and i got to know them all a bit better! There is Lindsay who is like an inch taller than me and is SO loud! But a very cool lady, she is staying with Rachel in the Bronx where Rachel lives. Dave is a scot and is staying in Harlem, brave bloke, though his Hostel is like half the price of mine. He does not have any hot water however! Plus his train does not go to his at all at the moment. Mine is 5 blocks from the closest station, 96th Street, im on 101st. He is on 116th street three streets East. And its gets better! Tomorrow as she lives in NYC Rachel has organised like a whole day for us around NYC. We are going to do the Statue of Liberty properly, Chinatown, Ground Zero, Empire State, and maybe the Rockafella Centre. Should be a really good day!. So being the good samaritan does sometimes pay out! love love Giles! xxxx ps. I also left my ipod in cyber cafe, my bag in starbucks, my bag in the comedy club and my camera in the Dallas BBQ. Good news is i got all of them back! Yippee!
