John Athertonīs World Tour
2nd Sep 2008
Goodbye South East Asia

The flight to Bangkok went smoothly and I managed to change my flight so I would be leaving the next day. I had one day and night to kill in Bangkok. It was pretty easy. I did some more shopping as it was my last chance and went to watch the new Batman movie at an IMAX theatre.

I flew out of Bangkok on the day that the Prime Minister announced the city to be in a state of emergency. I didn`t see any trouble though but apparently some people were killed in the protests.

I had an 8 hour stop over in Hong Kong and would arrive back in London on the third of September.

So goodbye south east Asia, its been fun. It was a good final leg of my trip, totally different to anywhere I had already been.

Most of the highlights were in Vietnam and Thailand. I really enjoyed Saigon and the bia hoi. Hoi An was really fun and the easyrider tour was probably the best trip out of the whole 6 months (or at least rivals the Inca trail).

Thailand was good too. It was really cool spending that time with Jo and we had a great time. I loved Chiang Mai and Railay Bay of course!

Its strange to think that my trip is over now, the past 6 months seem to have flown by! Ive had the time of my life, but I was ready to go home.
